Rehabilitation Service
Physical therapists help patients strengthen their muscles, improve the use of their joints, improve their balance and decrease pain. Patients work at their own pace to improve their mobility, safety and independence. Our physical therapists teach patients the use of adaptive/assistive devices and how to transfer safely to a bed, chair or walker. Occupational therapists develop methods that minimize dependence on others in performing activities of daily living (ADL's) through the use of equipment and or muscle strengthening and flexibility exercises. They design exercise programs that are tailor made for the patient's condition to restore them to their optimum function. They also work on cognitive training with patients who have had brain injuries. Speech language pathologists assist patients with impaired swallowing and speech disorders to regain optimal function and communication abilities. They also can assist with cognitive training. |
